How much does bacPoint™ cost?
bacPoint™ generally costs less than the price of a high quality school text book per student per year.
How is bacPoint™ licensed?
bacPoint™ is made available to IB schools for a simple annual subscription license fee based on the number of enrolled IB students.
Does this license cover students only?
No… Access for coordinators, supervisors, parents, staff and administrators is included free of additional charge. This significantly simplifies the licensing and encourages the involvement of external supervisors, parents and other to participate in the IB community at no additional fee.
What type of support can we expect?
All users have access to a help desk, discussion list and an online support community. Concord have very effective procesess and procedures and supporting online technologies for providing effective online support and conducts installations and application updates remotely.
Is bacPoint™ installed on our school network?
It can be installed and managed internally by your IT staff on your school network or we can host it for you.
What do I need to set up to install it?
bacPoint™ is a portal solution delivered on familiar Microsoft platforms. It uses Microsoft IIS web server for internet delivery. It uses Microsoft SQL Server database for centralised storage, access management and delivery of data.
How do we keep our software up to date?
bacPoint™ is maintained remotely by experienced staff. Any updates, fixes or customisations are applied and tested by experienced staff.
What training do you provide?
Concord provides online training and can also provide on-site training if required. Concord has been delivering online training for its education products for teachers, librarians, coordinators and administrators for many years.
What training do you provide for students?
Training for students is optional and is provided for schools that have this requirement. Students tend to very quickly learn the functionality of the bacPoint™ so generally little if any training is required. Most commonly the coordinators would probably run a short introductory training session for new IB students and supervisors.
Do I need IT skilled staff to manage and administer bacPoint™?
No, providing staff have some familiarity with the easy intuitive web interfaces of internet applications accessed through a web browser. There is no detailed background technical knowledge such as database management or operating systems management needed to manage and administer bacPoint™. All management and administration is done through the familiar internet interface.
Do my supervisors and teachers need any special IT skills to use bacPoint™?
None, other than familiarity with the use of a web browser to use internet applications. bacPoint™ is easy and relatively intuitive to use because it uses familiar internet application paradigms and technologies.
How can I arrange a bacPoint™ demonstration?
We provide demonstrations online. Please contact us to schedule an online demonstration at a suitable time. We will be running regular scheduled web demonstrations as well, so you can simply register to attend one of these or arrange a private demonstration for yourself and colleagues.
